There is no requisite style in the design of a Chain of Office - the options are nearly limitless. However, in an effort to assist in the decision- making process, International Coats of Arms, with over a quarter of a century of experience in this field, has defined a "standard" chain of office based on those items which have been deemed the most popular over the years. Custom items - items selected to specifically represent your town, may be used as a supplement, or replacement for any, or all of the attachments used in the standard chain.

Some of the many custom options include:
- Engraving of the names of Mayors / Reeves and their dates of service
- Custom attachments of any image specific to your town.(Example: City Hall, a historic site, central industry, etc.)
- Use of silver plated attachments (as opposed to gold), or pewter look.
The price of the Chain of Office from $2,399.00. This price includes the following standard assembled items:
- Velvet collar (approx. 19.5" from front to back, and 16" from side to side).
- 3 medallions: center back (Federal), center front (Provincial), and suspended (Community).
- 24 name bars (Engraving optional)
- Selection of standard attachments.
- Velvet medallion bag (to house medallion when not in use).
- Optional carrying case (to prevent excess wear and tear).
